Rookie QB Will Levis dominates in big Titans win in his first start

There was much uncertainty surrounding the Tennessee Titans and the quarterback position going into week eight. With Ryan Tannehill set to miss at least one game and last year’s second-round pick Malik Willis not showing quite enough in his brief appearances, the Titans pivoted towards rookie second-round pick Will Levis to carry the torch and see what he could do. He did not disappoint.

With a huge upset win over the Atlanta Falcons, Levis appears to have injected renewed hope into the Titans’ organization in his first start. It wasn’t exactly a “let the defense win the game” type of win either as Levis showed off big time. With 19 completions on 29 attempts, 238 yards through the air, and a whopping four touchdown passes, Levis put the NFL on notice with the most dominant rookie quarterback performance in a game so far this season. Levis showed off his cannon arm, quick whip release, ability to extend plays, and raw leadership ability in the win and quickly justified his draft position.

There is little question about who should be the starter in Tennessee moving forward, and while there will be an argument in the coaching room between Levis and Tannehill, it would seem a fool’s errand to trot out the struggling veteran instead of the red-hot rookie. Expect to see plenty more Levis in the future. If he can build on that stellar performance on Sunday, he could be a suddenly fringe candidate for offensive rookie of the year.
