For some time, Michigan football was not trending for one of its eventual star players in cornerback Will Johnson. However, the Wolverines prevailed and couldn’t be happier with the legacy, former five-star.
Thought of now as perhaps the best cornerback in the country, Johnson ended up being the highest-rated player on the newly-released EA Sports College Football 25 video game. He feels honored by the distinction, but also says that he has to keep his play up in order to keep his rating up.
From a video released by CBS Sports:
“No. 1 rated player. It feels crazy because it’s the first game to come back after — Denard was on there,” Johnson said. “Which was a while ago, ’14. The first year it’s back, I’m the highest-rated player, it’s crazy. I’ve gotta get to a 99! I’ve gotta keep that ranking, but the rating goes up based on how your season’s going. You can be a 95 at the beginning of the year and at the end of the season, an 89.”

Johnson enters his third year and very well could see himself drafted atop the 2025 NFL draft if he has a productive season similar to last year — his first year as the bona fide starter. If he builds upon that, he could find himself more than just a day one draft pick.
