Alvin Kamara delivered one of the most memorable performances by a running back on Christmas Day in 2020 versus the Minnesota Vikings. The New Orleans Saints running back rushed for 155 yards and six touchdowns. That’s not only the most rushing touchdowns scored on Christmas, it’s the most rushing touchdowns scored in a single game ever.
Can anyone replicate or come close to that performance this year? The NFL is featuring Kansas City Chiefs versus Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens versus Houston Texans as a part of Christmas programming.
Derrick Henry and Joe Mixon are the standout running backs in this game. As talented as those running backs are, it’s difficult to see either of them racking up six rushing touchdowns in the game.
Reaching six touchdowns is hard against any team, but the double header features strong rush defenses all the way around. The Texans are the worst run defense of the quartet and they’re ranked as the 11th best run defense in the league.
The Ravens allow just 83.1 rushing yards per game, best in the NFL. The Chiefs come in at third, and the Steelers are eighth. While it’s doubtful any running back matches what Kamara did four years ago, you’ll get to watch really good running backs face really good run defenses. That should be fun from a fan’s perspective.
