The Alabama Crimson Tide uniform may not be as extravagant as others, but its tradition is what makes it special. One of the most important pieces to a college football’s uniform is the helmet. For some teams, it could be their entire identity.

All helmets are different to a certain degree and feature something unique. The helmet can contain a logo, like the Miami Hurricanes; a number, like Alabama; an identifiable emblem, like the Florida State Seminoles; or just a blank helmet, like the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Thought Alabama football’s history, there have been minimal changes made to the Crimson Tide helmet. While it has mostly been a crimson helmet, there were a few times from the 1950s through the early 1980s when the program wore white helmets.

The now-retired legendary head coach Nick Saban was adamant about keeping the uniform, especially the helmet, as traditional as possible. Saban retired at the start of the offseason and was replaced by former Washington Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer.

A recent post shared to social media by Alabama Football has fans questioning what it means. The post is a picture of Bryant-Denny Stadium covered in ice and snow with a caption that reads “it’s gonna be a cold summer.”

A fair number of fans think it may be a hint that the program will bring back white helmets. Here are what they have said online while trying to decode the post.
