A peculiar thing happened in the Houston Texans’ 33-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Receiver Will Fuller had one carry for zero yards. He wasn’t seen until after halftime, but he was never even targeted.
According to the team’s public relations staff’s Twitter account, which posts the injuries as they are announced in the press box, Fuller was not injured. The only injury from the game that was reported was fullback Cullen Gillaspia’s being evaluated for a concussion.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Fuller had his hamstring stretched on the sideline near the end of the first half. However, he was never declared injured at any time.
Coach Bill O’Brien told reporters after the game that they would need more information on Fuller’s status.
“I don’t know,” O’Brien said. “We’ll have to find out, but, I don’t know, but I think it’s — we’ll have to figure that out. I don’t know that. I’ll probably know that tomorrow, you know better, know better what to tell you tomorrow.”
Quarterback Deshaun Watson said that Fuller is doing what is necessary to stay on the field.
“Will just got to continue to do the right treatment and get on the field and he’s going to do that,” said Watson, who completed 25-of-36 for 275 yards, a touchdown, an interception, and took four sacks. “And every time he’s on the field, he’s a big factor. He’s a big part of this offense, so just making sure that he is staying healthy and just keep pushing forward.”
Fuller did not practice on Friday, but he was listed as the reason not being injury related. If Fuller does end up on the injury report Wednesday, it will raise questions as to whether he can be counted on in the Texans’ passing game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
