Why James Harden might be back sooner than expected

James Harden has completed work all three days in Milwaukee and may make a possible return sooner than expected.

In the Nets’ press conference before Tuesday’s game against Milwaukee, head coach Steve Nash hinted that James Harden could potentially return soon from a hamstring injury.

When asked about Harden and Nicolas Claxton, Nash said, “They did work all three days here in Milwaukee.” Nash also highlighted that Harden and Claxton are in totally different situations in regard to their rehabilitation requirements.

Nash added, “They’ll be ready when they’re ready.”

Later that night, Nash ended up playing Claxton five minutes in his return from COVID-19 safety protocol. Nash has been giving the media vague statements, it’s been difficult to accurately predict the team’s next move all season long.

From these statements, we know Harden has been working out. He also participated in strength work and shooting last week. Considering all these factors, a return of Harden sooner than expected, similar to Claxton — especially if the team wants to continue its push for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

That means a rumored return for the Beard at the start of the playoffs will be shut down. Of course, health is the most important thing here, but it seems as if Harden is almost good to go.
