On draft night, the San Antonio Spurs traded Rob Dillingham to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In return, the Spurs received a 2031 first-round pick and a 2030 pick swap. This move added to the Spurs’ stockpile of draft picks, allowing them to be more fluid in potential trades later on.

Nevertheless, some sections of the fanbase were perplexed by the move. After all, the Spurs are a rebuilding team, and Dillingham is a lottery pick who could develop into a reliable rotation player at the NBA level. Of course, the additional flexibility the trade provides San Antonio could be valuable in the near future.
