[autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] and [autotag]Dustin Poirier[/autotag] are close to running it back in a pivotal lightweight showdown that headlines UFC 257.
The last time they met was at featherweight in September 2014, with McGregor winning by TKO inside of two minutes. They were practically kids on their way up back then. Now in their early 30s, both McGregor and Poirier have improved as fighters.
Much has been made about the mental aspect of the fight and whether or not Poirier can convince himself that he simply “got caught” the first time. There’s also a growing belief that the deeper the rematch goes, the more it favors Poirier’s chances given McGregor’s tendency to tire as fights wear on.
