With just two weeks to the start of Pittsburgh Steelers training camp, it’s time to talk a little about what we hope is a budding battle between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields for the starting quarterback position.
But is it really a battle at all? Fields certainly is preparing for training camp as if he’s got a fair shot to be the starting quarterback this season, but by all accounts, Wilson has the pole position and it’s just a matter of holding on to the lead.
But for this exercise, let’s say both guys come in at baseline, each with a fair shot to win the job. Who should be the starting quarterback? Who gives the Steelers the best chance to win?
In terms of veteran leadership and experience, there’s no comparison. Wilson could be headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Fields has struggled to keep a starting job. But at the same time, when it comes to athletic potential, Fields blows Wilson out of the water and could be a serious weapon in an Arthur Smith offense.
So cast your vote. Don’t tell us who you think will be the starting quarterback; instead tell us who should be the starter.
