Who does Washington land in Draft Wire’s new 2022 mock draft?

Washington gets its quarterback of the future in this way-too-early 2022 mock draft.

It’s never too early — or too late — to begin talking about the next year’s NFL draft.

So, it’s no surprise that some are already dropping new 2022 mock drafts before the 2021 season even begins.

Luke Easterling of Draft Wire released his new mock draft this week and has the Washington Football Team picking at No. 12. Relax, Easterling isn’t saying Washington is picking at No. 12, but instead, he used each team’s Super Bowl odds to determine the order for his mock draft.

So, who does Draft Wire have the WFT taking at No. 12 overall?

That would be USC quarterback Kedon Slovis. Slovis, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound passer, completed 70% of his passes with 47 touchdowns in his two years as the Trojans’ starting quarterback.

In this mock draft, he is the fourth quarterback chosen — and Washington finally gets its quarterback of the future.

Easterling also had Washington going offense in the second round of his two-round mock draft, this time taking Iowa State tight end Charlie Kolar. The 6-foot-6, 257-pound Kolar would give the Football Team outstanding depth at tight end.

Washington’s current starter at tight end, Logan Thomas, is a free agent after the 2021 season.

It will be interesting to see what type of season Washington quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has in 2021. Does Washington hold off on making a bold move for a quarterback if Fitzpatrick has a strong season?

Regardless of whether Fitzpatrick is successful or not, the Washington Football Team will be in the quarterback market again in 2022.
