The Miami Dolphins have passed the 4PM EST threshold and as a result are finished with their initial push of cutting the roster down to the required 53-man limit. There were some surprises yesterday, starting with veteran linebacker Benardrick McKinney; leaving a little less drama throughout the course of the cuts today. Most of the action was predictable and leaves the Dolphins with a finished product (sans waiver wire action tomorrow).
And upon further review, one thing is clear: this is the most talent the Dolphins have been forced to cut from their roster in years. It is an unfortunate side effect of the team’s improved depth across the board; but also a necessary one.
Here are the players who Miami bid farewell through throughout the course of the day in their bid to reach 53 players:
- QB Reid Sinnett
- RB Patrick Laird
- WR Kai Locksley
- WR Kirk Merritt
- WR Malcolm Perry
- TE Chris Myarick
- OL Durval Quieroz Neto
- OL Cameron Tom
- DL Jason Strowbridge
- DL Jonathan Ledbetter
- CB Javaris Davis
- CB Cre’Von LeBlanc
Plus the following cuts from throughout the course of the day on Monday:
- RB Jordan Scarlett
- WR Khalil McClain
- OL Matt Skura
- DL Tyshun Render
- LB Benardrick McKinney
- SAF Nate Holley
