UNC football quarterback Drake Maye continues to impress in his first full season as a starter for the Tar Heels.
Fresh off a win over Duke a week ago, UNC is now 6-1 overall and 3-0 in ACC play. And a big reason for that is the play of Maye at quarterback.
So far this season, Maye has thrown for 2,283 yards, 24 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. He’s also rushed for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns as well. But where does he rank in Tom Fornelli’s weekly rankings?
While Maye isn’t in the top two like he was a few weeks ago, he’s still among the top five in the rankings, sitting at No. 4:
This kid is just the model of consistency. Every week he shows up and throws for over 300 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 10+ yards per carry. Quarterbacks usually buy gifts for their offensive linemen, but Maye should consider buying gifts for the North Carolina defense that makes sure he has to keep slinging the ball for 60 minutes.
Right now, the Tar Heels are the favorites to win the ACC coastal division with over a month to go in the season. And if they are going to reach that ACC title game, they are likely going to need to do it on the back of Maye and the offense.
