Where Oregon’s offense ranks nationally in key stats following 81-point showing

Oregon’s offense ranks No. 1 in the nation for several key statistics. That comes as little surprise when you score 81 points in Week 1.

I’m not sure what type of incentives are built into the contract for Oregon Ducks offensive coordinator Will Stein, but I would easily believe that after the first week of the season, he is sitting pretty when it comes to meeting some of those offensive bookmarks.

The Ducks put up stats in Week 1 against the Portland State Vikings, gaining 729 total yards of offense and scoring 81 points. Of course, you have to take into account the level of competition that was on the visitor’s sideline at Autzen Stadium, but regardless, Oregon was able to move up and down the field with ease.

Throughout the season, we will revisit some key offensive stats each week to see where the Ducks stand in the national rankings. Whether it is scoring offense, third down conversions, or red zone conversion rate, the numbers usually give us a pretty good idea of where Oregon stands in the grand scheme of college football during the season.
