The 2024 season is shaping up to be one of change for the LSU football team, but it’s not without optimism as we approach the long haul of the summer.
Gone are many pieces that led to arguably the most impressive non-2019 offense we’ve ever seen at LSU last fall. Jayden Daniels — the 2023 Heisman winner — and his favorite receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. were all first-round picks.
Defensively, LSU lost multiple starters from a struggling unit and must replace coordinators on both sides of the ball.
But the Tigers have a seemingly worthy successor to Daniels in Garrett Nussmeier, arguably the nation’s top offensive line and tons of skill-position talent on that side of the ball. And that’s why, despite the losses, ESPN has the Tigers ranked favorably in its preseason Football Power Index.
Here’s how the full top 25 looks with spring practice and the second transfer portal window in the books.
