Week one of the 2020 SEC football season is complete.

The LSU Tigers lost their first season opener since 2016 with a 44-34 loss at home against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

With the loss, the Tigers dropped from No. 6 to No. 20 in the AP Poll.

The loss put the Tigers just inside the Top 25, but another loss before the Florida game on Oct. 17 could see the Tigers on the outside looking in.

Overall in the SEC, the Tigers are currently in 12th place with their opening loss. LSU allowed 623 passing yards and five touchdowns to Mississippi State quarterback K.J. Costello, and started slow on offense to open up the season.

The Tigers travel to Vanderbilt this Saturday, hoping for their first victory of the 2020 season. Vanderbilt lost at Texas A&M 17-12 on Saturday.

The next two games for LSU are winnable games. The trip to Nashville this weekend could be an eye opening game for the Tigers, who have to improve nearly everywhere on the field.
