The LSU Tigers finally got back to their winning ways last week with a narrow 27-24 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks. The win moved the Tigers to 3-3 on the season after their first win in nearly a month.
So, did the win change LSU’s bowl outlook?
In Erick Smith’s latest bowl projections for USA TODAY, he has the defending national champions playing in the Texas Bowl against the West Virginia Mountaineers of the Big 12.
The Mountaineers currently sit at 5-3 on the season.
The Texas Bowl is played on Dec. 31 at NRG Stadium in Houston. The bowl’s name has changed frequently in recent years and was most recently sponsored by Academy Sports + Outdoors.
LSU has played in the Texas Bowl once before. In 2015, the Tigers defeated Texas Tech 56-27.
The Tigers are back in action this weekend and have an opportunity to improve their bowl standing as they take on the No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies.
