Where is LSU basketball in latest USA TODAY Sports Bracketology?

The LSU men’s basketball season began the season with a 10-2 record and looked poised to compete for an SEC championship and a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, they would lose four of their next five games — three of which were to SEC foes — and dropped 11-6 on the season.

LSU was firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble and needed a strong finish to the regular season.

Head coach Will Wade had his team ready as the Tigers picked up two impressive wins last week to improve to 13-6 on the season, with an 8-4 mark in SEC play.

Saturday’s win over then-No. 16 Tennessee was LSU’s most impressive win of the season. The Tigers dominated on both ends of the court in a relatively easy 78-65 victory.

That win put LSU back in the NCAA Tournament conversation, and in the latest USA TODAY Sports Bracketology, the Tigers are listed as a No. 9 seed in the East region.

LSU’s first-round opponent is No. 8 seed, Colorado.

A No. 9 seed for LSU is about right. If the Tigers can finish the regular season on a strong note, they have the potential to be a much higher seed.

LSU is back in action on Saturday when Auburn comes to Baton Rouge.
