When ESPN updated its team recruiting rankings in July, the Florida Gators were coming off a surge that put the 2024 class at No. 2 in the entire nation.
Five weeks later, UF is down a spot to No. 3 in the August update. Ohio State’s recent additions have the Buckeyes back up to No. 2, and Georgia has remained on top of the list throughout the summer.
Of course, the Gators are pushing to flip OSU commit Jeremiah Smith, who is a Florida native and the No. 9 overall recruit on ESPN’s 2024 rankings. If Billy Napier and Co. can pull off that shocker, the top five will look entirely different.
Leading the way for Florida are five-star quarterback DJ Lagway and five-star defensive end Jamonta Waller. Twelve of Florida’s 22 commitments are ranked in the top 300 by ESPN, including three of five new additions to the class — four-star offensive lineman Fletcher Westphal, four-star wide receiver Tawaski Abrams and four-star cornerback Wardell Mack all signed since the last update.
Three-star defensive end Kendall Jackson and three-star cornerback Teddy Foster are the other two newcomers taken into consideration.
