Where Drake Maye lands in Pro Football Focus way too early 2024 mock draft

Here is where Pro Football Focus has UNC football quarterback Drake Maye being drafted in their first 2024 NFL mock draft.

The 2023 NFL draft is officially in the books as the three-day event wrapped up in Kansas City over the weekend. And now the focus is already shifting to the 2024 cycle.

While this year saw three quarterbacks go in the top 5, the 2024 class early on is being considered to have the potential of a ‘generational’ class and North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is battling Caleb Williams to be the top pick.

Pro Football Focus has already released its first 2024 mock draft and while Williams went No. 1 to Arizona, Maye wasn’t far behind. They mocked Maye to Tampa Bay at No. 5 to eventually replace Tom Brady:

The Buccaneers find their new franchise quarterback in Maye, who was the most valuable player in college football last season according to our wins above average metric. His 45 big-time throws were 10 more than the next-closest FBS quarterback and he tied for second among all quarterbacks with 56 combined rushing first downs/touchdowns.

As it stands right now, the consensus is that Williams is QB1 followed by Maye at QB2. Things can obviously change based on how the two play but as for where Maye goes in the draft, anything can happen at this point seeing that teams could trade up to take him.
