Where Drake Maye lands in latest Draft Wire’s 2024 NFL mock draft

Here is where UNC football quarterback Drake Maye lands in the latest 2024 NFL mock draft by the Draft Wire.

Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season is underway as a very underwhelming slate of games got started with the Chicago Bears beating the Carolina Panthers in a snooze fest.

The game had big implications for the 2024 NFL draft with Carolina having just one win and the Bears getting their third win. But the biggest thing to note is that Chicago owns Carolina’s first-rounder for next year and with a potential need at quarterback, the focus in terms of the draft was on this game.

Before the week kicked off, Jeff Risdon released his updated 2024 NFL mock draft. For North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye, Risdon has him going early in the draft at No. 2 overall to the Chicago Bears via Carolina and the top quarterback selected. With Marvin Harrison Jr. going No. 1 to the Cardinals, it gives the Bears their choice of quarterbacks:

Maye gets the top quarterback nod here because of his playmaking ability and improved ability to avoid mistakes under pressure. The Bears have dealt with exciting but mistake-prone QBs for too long.

That would be an interesting landing spot for Maye, joining a team that already has an established No. 1 receiver in DJ Moore plus solid pieces on the offensive line.

Let’s hope he finds more success there than the last UNC quarterback to be drafted No. 2 to the Bears.
