The Boston Celtics traded Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks in a three-team sign and trade deal that netted a return of second round draft picks and a traded player exception (TPE) that has irked some fans. The Celtics have altered their starting lineup as a result of that and the Marcus Smart trade and lowered their floor while raising their ceiling.
They now have a seven-man rotation with injury concerns in the frontcourt rotation as well as with 2023 Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon. The team has shifted its defensive identity and made, at least in the eyes of some, questionable roster management decisions.
Where does the Grant Williams trade leave the Boston Celtics?
The semi-eponymous host of the ESPN “Lowe Post” podcast Zach Lowe linked up with reporter Tim Bontemps to talk it over; check out the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.
