Where does North Carolina Tar Heels’ fanbase rank according to CBB analyst Andy Katz?

UNC has some of the most passionate fans in college basketball. Take a look at where Tar Heels fans rank in Andy Katz’ Top 10.

From November-April in the college sports world, there’s nothing quite like playing in front of a sold-out arena.

The Dean Dome in Chapel Hill, North Carolina knows a thing or two about sellouts.

Largely given their consistent success during basketball season, the North Carolina Tar Heels sport one of the college sports world’s largest fanbases. This was especially prevalent last season, when UNC won the ACC Regular Season Championship and only lost to Clemson at home.

North Carolina consistently hosts nationally-televised games, most notably when archrival Duke comes to town. This allows the nation to see truly just how passionate Tar Heels fans are.

UNC recently got some national recognition for its passionate fanbase, with popular college basketball analyst Andy Katz ranking UNC seventh amongst the country’s Top 10 fanbases.

Having a home-court advantage certainly helps, especially in a college basketball-crazed state like North Carolina. Fans will get their first chance to see the Tar Heels live on Monday, Nov. 4 against Elon.

Even with Armando Bacot gone, UNC returns 2024 ACC Player of the Year RJ Davis and welcomes several talented newcomers: transfers Ven-Allen Lubin and Cade Tyson, plus 5-star freshmen Drake Powell and Ian Jackson.

All of the above reason, plus a strong chance to compete atop the ACC and – hopefully – another NCAA Title, should bring plenty of Carolina Blue into the Dean Dome once again this fall.
