It’s been a rollercoaster of a season so far if you’re Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins, hasn’t it?
Though the stats have been largely the same, outside of three interceptions on Sunday against the Browns, public perception of the second-year QB has changed drastically following each contest, largely based on the result of the game. After Week 1, Haskins was ranked as the No. 26 QB in the league; after Week 2, he actually bumped up to No. 22 in the league.
Now, after an atrocious performance against the Cleveland Browns? Haskins has dropped all the way down to No. 31 in the NFL, trailing only New York Jets’ Sam Darnold.
Haskins’ 56.4 completion percentage on the year is the lowest mark among all QBs who have started all three weeks. It’s not for a lack of weapons, as Terry McLaurin has proven he’s a legit WR1 and Antonio Gibson has flashed star power. His six turnovers on the season hurt too.
So did Haskins’ performance on Sunday warrant a nine-spot drop in the power rankings? It may be a bit drastic, but it’s hard to blame anyone for losing confidence. The good news is that we’ve seen some decent things from the QB already this year, and he will be as hungry as ever to get back into a groove this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens.
Judging by how the past few weeks of rankings have gone, who knows, a solid performance could put him higher than he’s ever been in the polls.
