Over the last month, analysts have dropped their SEC predictions in hopes of filling the void until the games kick off this weekend. Former SEC head coach turned ESPN analyst Dan Mullen is the latest to do so.
Mullen revealed his projected order of finish for the SEC this season and has placed Auburn at No. 11. Mullen expects the Tigers to finish higher than Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt.
Ahead of Auburn, Mullen predicts that LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Kentucky will finish 5-10 while Ole Miss, Missouri, Georgia, and Texas are the four teams that have the best chance to earn a trip to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.
Mullen predicts the race to Mercedez-Benz Stadium will come with controversy.
“Getting in the title game could come down to the tiebreaker. There are 6 teams that have a chance,” Mullen said on X (formerly Twitter).
Mullen’s predictions are similar to those made by other outlets and experts. USA TODAY Sports agrees with Mullen that the Tigers will finish No. 11 in the SEC while the SEC preseason media poll puts Auburn in the No. 10 slot.
