Where do the Boston Celtics rank among Eastern Conference contenders?

And should they really want to avoid the Brooklyn Nets? Not everyone agrees.

By now we can be pretty certain that the Boston Celtics’ dominant play throughout the latter half of the 2021-22 NBA season is no fluke — but the question remains of where the team stacks up against the rest of the league’s Eastern Conference elite.

The Miami Heat hold the East’s first-place spot, followed by the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks, the Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. All will have homecourt advantage for the first round of the 2022 NBA playoffs. But simply winning games in the 82-game season doesn’t always translate to the 16 wins needed to hang a banner.

The hosts of the CLNS “Celtics Beat” podcast, Evan Valenti and Adam Kaufman, along with guest Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston recently dived into the question of how the Celtics stack up to their Eastern Conference peers in pursuit of the 2022 title.

Watch the clip embedded above to hear their takes on how Boston may fare compared to the East’s other top teams.
