The Atlanta Falcons lost to the Carolina Panthers in overtime on Sunday to finish the season with an 8-9 record. Despite a promising 6-3 start, the team will miss the playoffs for a seventh consecutive year.
It should be an interesting offseason for the Falcons, though. The team appears to have found its quarterback of the future in Michael Penix Jr. and could be a threat in the NFC with a little defensive retooling.
Where do Falcons pick in 2025 NFL draft?
While Atlanta will end its streak of top-10 draft picks, the team didn’t fall very far. The Falcons will have pick No. 15 overall in the 2025 NFL draft. That should give them a chance to add another impact player.
Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot has succeeded in the first round, but fans have been critical of his picks in the other six rounds. Plus, the team hasn’t found a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball under Fontenot.
We expect Atlanta to target a defensive lineman, edge, or defensive back early in the draft. With 30 players set to become free agents when the new league year begins, this team has some serious work to do over the offseason.
Programming note: Falcons head coach Raheem Morris will speak tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. General manager Terry Fontenot will speak 11 a.m. on Thursday.
