Where do Tennessee Titans land in ESPN’s continuity rankings?

How do the Titans compare to the rest of the league in this area?

If you ask a Tennessee Titans fan to give you a low-down of what it’s like to follow their team, there’s a good chance that you’re going to hear the word “inconsistent” somewhere in there.

And it’s true.

Few teams have experienced the same roller coaster of ups-and-downs the team almost always manages to jam-pack into just one season.

The Titans seem to have all they need in place to become regular playoff contenders, but they’ll need to keep putting it together off the same momentum they rolled with after switching quarterbacks last year.

So where do the Titans rank in continuity compared to the rest of the NFL after deciding to “run it back” with much of the same team they had in 2019?

When ESPN released its list of rankings, the Titans stood at roughly the middle of the pack, coming in at No. 15 behind the Baltimore Ravens and ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers.

“The Titans are banking on continuity being a plus for them on the offensive side of the ball,” ESPN’s Turron Davenport wrote. “Having Tannehill execute Smith’s offense for a full season should bode well for the Titans. But the defense was hit with turnover, and Vrabel will have to shoulder more of a role following the departure of coordinator Dean Pees. The loss of veteran leadership through trades and free agency places a burden on younger players.”

Davenport makes some fine points here, and it’s true the Titans will look a bit different with significant departures from this offseason.

Only time will tell if the Titans can run it back in 2020 — perhaps expanding upon that success and making it to the Super Bowl after coming up just one win short last year.
