Defending national champion Alabama takes the top spot in the AP Top 25 preseason poll, to the surprise of nobody. This marks the first time since 2018 that Alabama started the season on top of the AP Top 25. Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide look to become the 12th team in the AP poll era to end the season on top of the AP Top 25 after started the season No. 1. The last team to do so, naturally, was Alabama in 2017.
