Where Anthony Richardson goes in CBS Sports’ ‘what teams should do’ mock

While there are still some outliers out there, a better person would put their money on AR landing in the top five of the 2023 draft.

Just over a day remains until the 88th annual edition of the 2023 NFL draft held in Kansas City, Missouri, starting on Thursday, April 27, and running until Saturday, April 29. While the league prepares for its spring festivities the media and fans have been wondering where their favorite players will go and who their favorite teams select.

One of the latest mocks to hit the internet is CBS Sports writer Ryan Wilson’s latest projection based on what he believes teams should do. In it, he predicts that former Florida Gators quarterback [autotag]Anthony Richardson[/autotag] will be selected with the fourth pick overall by the Indianapolis Colts. Here is what he has to offer on the athletic signal-caller’s stock in the draft.

Richardson was pretty impressive at his pro day; he’s built like a defensive end, runs like a power back and can throw the football 80 yards and make it look easy. His athleticism and arm strength leave a lasting impression when you see him in person, as does the effortlessness with which he plays. But what he has in God-given ability, he lacks in experience, so his best landing spot at the next level will be to a team with a veteran quarterback who can man the reins for another year or two until he’s ready to take the next step. And if managed properly, that next step could truly be special.

Richardson at No. 4 to the Colts appears to be a consensus choice among many of the sports media, as this top-10 publication aggregation demonstrates. While there are still some outliers out there, a better person would put their money on AR landing in the top five of the 2023 draft.

The most recent UF alumni taken in the first round of the draft are cornerback [autotag]Kaiir Elam[/autotag] (2022, No. 23), tight end [autotag]Kyle Pitts[/autotag] (2021, No. 4), wide receiver [autotag]Kadarius Toney[/autotag] (2021, No. 20) and cornerback [autotag]CJ Henderson[/autotag] (2020, No. 9).
