Where 247Sports ranks Drake Maye among top QB’s in ACC

Here is where UNC football quarterback Drake Maye ranks among other ACC players at his position per 247Sports.

North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is one of the best-returning players in the country as he enters his second full season as the starter for the Tar Heels.

Last year, Maye found himself in the Heisman conversation at one point in the season, putting together a record-breaking year. The hope is that Maye can have similar success here in 2023 and if that happens, the Tar Heels should find themselves in a good position and in a lot of games.

As Maye prepares for another season as the starter, he should be at the top or near the top on a lot of lists for top quarterbacks in the country and the ACC.

And that’s where he’s ranked in 247Sports’ rankings for top quarterback in the ACC:

In 2022, his first season as a starter, Maye completed 342 of 517 passes (66.2%) for 4,410 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 698 yards and seven scores en route to ACC Player of the Year honors. Maye’s 358.5 yards per game of total offense ranked second in the nation, while the 45 touchdowns responsible were tied for third.

Maye picked up where he left off in UNC’s spring game on Saturday, completing 10 of 13 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns, according to Inside Carolina. Both of his scores went to transfer wide receivers Tez Walker (Kent State) and Nate McCollum (Georgia Tech).

There’s no question Maye has the talent to be the top quarterback not only in the conference but in the country. And it wouldn’t surprise us to see him in the Heisman conversation again.
