Where 247Sports ranked the LSU Tigers 2022 schedule released on Tuesday

Where does the 2022 schedule for the LSU Tigers rank in terms of difficulty among their peers?

The SEC released the schedules for each of their 14 teams on Tuesday evening and announced them on SEC Network. The teams weren’t a surprise as they were announced far ahead of Tuesday’s reveal, it was the conference schedule that was the real question.

Going into next season the Tigers will play a neutral site game against Florida State to open the campaign in New Orleans. Two of their next three games will be nonconference tilts with a conference matchup in between. We released our version of the schedule with some historical numbers.

Brad Crawford of 247Sports ranked the Tigers 2022 schedule with LSU coming in among the middle of the SEC. He has them at No. 8. No school has an easier schedule than the Georgia Bulldogs according to Crawford. Alabama wasn’t much better coming in at No. 12 overall.

With Florida State in ruin and the rest of the non-conference slate a near automatic 3-0, Ed Orgeron’s program has a great shot at starting the season with four wins before taking on Auburn away from home in the first toss-up of the 2022 campaign. By our projection, the Tigers’ second game vs. a nationally-ranked opponent comes in mid-October at Florida. This schedule is manageable by SEC West standards and given LSU’s talent level, provides opportunity for success.

Opening the season against the Florida State Seminoles will be an interesting matchup. These teams haven’t played in over 30 years. Can Florida State get on back on track and put together any momentum before the opener next season? That remains to be seen.
