A little rain won’t stop Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson from doing his grand marshal duties for the 66th running of the Daytona 500. We’ll just all have to wait an extra day to see him do his thing.
Persistent rain forced NASCAR to push the Daytona 500 back a day from it’s scheduled start on Sunday, Feb. 18 to the next day. Happily, it’s a national holiday on Monday, meaning the 4 p.m. start time might not prevent as many people from attending in person or watching on TV as a normal week.
Johnson spent some time talking to the media on Sunday afternoon in Daytona, assuring everyone that he’d stay around for the rescheduled race and also dropping a little wrestling news. As grand marshal, he’ll give the command for drivers to fire their engines before they head out on the track for the Great American Race.
When and where can you see The Rock as grand marshal for the rescheduled Daytona 500?
Coverage of the Daytona 500 is now set for Monday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on FOX, so tuning in then will ensure you don’t miss Johnson as grand marshal.
As for a more exact time, the green flag is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET, and the grand marshal generally gives the command to fire engines about 10 minutes prior. So you’ll want to be sure you’re watching no later than 4:20 p.m. or you might not catch The Rock and what’s sure to be an electrifying command.
