Now that the preseason is in the rearview, the Chargers have begun trimming down their roster.
Los Angeles will have to cut their roster to 53 players by Tuesday at 1 p.m. PT.
In previous seasons, teams had multiple deadlines during the cutdown process. In 2021, rosters had to be at 85 players by Aug. 17, 80 players by Aug. 24 and 53 players by Aug. 31. Last season, the league changed that to two deadlines — 80 players by Aug. 23 and 53 players by Aug. 30.
On Wednesday, the claiming period for players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at 9 p.m. PT. Then, L.A. will begin putting together their practice squad of 16 players.
