When Calvin Booth, the highest-ranking African-American in the Nuggets’ organization, wades into a conversation about systemic change, he does so from an informed opinion. Booth’s father, Calvin Sr., was a respected member of the Columbus Police Department for 33 years before he passed away barely four months ago. Despite the family connection to law enforcement, Booth doesn’t have any problem expressing his frustration over the killings of unarmed black men at the hands of police.
