What will the Cowboys do with former Longhorn Connor Williams?

The Dallas Cowboys have plenty of questions heading into the 2021 season, but what is their plan for former Longhorn Connor Williams?

Texas ex Connor Williams is approaching his fourth season with the Dallas Cowboys and his professional career has been a bit of a roller coaster up to this point.

He was drafted in the second round with the No. 50 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft and became the day one starter at left guard. Williams played eight games before being replaced by Xavier Sua-Filo and he eventually filled in at right guard for a short time in place of Zack Martin.

In 2019, Williams spent the offseason bulking up to better play the guard position and his play dramatically improved over the season compared to his rookie campaign. However, injuries would shorten his sophomore season to 11 games.

This last season was by far his best year as a player, despite it being a disaster for the Cowboys overall. He played in all 16 games and was the only starter to not suffer an injury throughout the season.

Going into the 2021 season, the Cowboys have plenty of questions. The primary ones surround quarterback Dak Prescott, but looking ahead to the following offseason, they’ll have even more questions as everyone drafted in 2018 will be unrestricted free agents — including Williams.

There’s plenty of things they can do for Williams but they won’t all be popular.
