What we learned in the Cardinals’ 36-26 loss to the 49ers

This was a tough loss to take after starting so well. The defense continues to be horrific.

Defense can’t stop replacements

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

No Matt Breida, George Kittle and an injured Emmanuel Sanders? No problem, at least for the 49ers. The Cardinals could not stop their replacements from having huge impacts.

Running back Tevin Coleman only had 14 rushing yards on 12 carries but had 48 yards on three catches, including a 37-yard catch.

Tight end Ross Dwelley had four receptions, but two were for touchdowns. They were the first touchdowns of his career. Of course the Cardinals gave up touchdowns to a tight end.

Rookie receiver Deebo Samuel had eight catches for 134 yards.
