What to know from Indianapolis Colts first Week 7 injury report

Here is what you need to know about the Indianapolis Colts’ first Week 7 injury report ahead of their matchup with Miami.

The Indianapolis Colts were back at practice on Wednesday beginning their preparation for their Week 7 matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

The team’s first injury report of the week included a number of key starters.

Let’s take a closer look at what you need to know:

– Anthony Richardson was a full participant. Despite this being the seventh practice that Richardson has been a part of since sustaining the oblique injury, this is only the second practice where he’s been a full participant–a good sign for this Sunday’s game, something head coach Shane Steichen alluded to earlier in the week.

– Josh Downs was on the injury report with a toe injury. Last week, it was a toe injury that forced him to miss practice on Wednesday and Thursday before he was a full participant on Friday and then played on Sunday. We will see how the rest of the week unfolds, but hopefully, Downs is just getting some rest.

– Ryan Kelly sustained a calf injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win and did not return. He did not participate in Wednesday’s practice either. Dayo Odeyingbo would also leave Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, but he did return in the second half–although he did not practice on Wednesday.

– Michael Pittman was out with a back injury. A week ago, it was reported that Pittman could miss “multiple weeks” with this injury but he not only played on Sunday but had some key receptions as well. Steichen said on Wednesday they would monitor the injury throughout the week and from the sounds of it, the situation is very fluid.

– Jonathan Taylor did not practice. He is yet to return to practice since sustaining the high-ankle sprain against the Steelers. Taylor spoke recently with NFL Network and provided a brief update on where he’s at.

– Trey Sermon was out with a knee injury. With both Sermon and Taylor sidelined, the Colts made a running back addition to the practice squad on Wednesday. Here is what you need to know about the signing.

– Right tackle Braden Smith also did not participate today. For what it’s worth, this has been the norm for Smith the last four Wednesdays now. Each week, he doesn’t practice on Wednesday or Friday but is a full participant on Thursdays and then plays that Sunday. Of course, things can change, but this seems to be the current pattern Smith is in to help keep his knee fresh.

– Lastly, two new additions to the injury report were EJ Speed and Chris Lammons. Speed played 100 percent of the defensive snaps on Sunday. At this time, we don’t have any further information about the injuries. Lammons didn’t play any defensive snaps with Kenny Moore back.
