What to know from Indianapolis Colts first Week 13 injury report

Let’s take a closer look at what you need to know from the Indianapolis Colts first Week 13 injury report.

The Indianapolis Colts released their first Week 13 injury report on Wednesday, ahead of their matchup with New England, and there were a few more players listed than what there has been in recent weeks.

Of note, for the third consecutive Wednesday, the Colts held a walkthrough as they near their very late bye week. So this specific injury report is just an estimation of each player’s practice status. The Colts will be back on the practice field on Thursday.

So, with that in mind, let’s take a closer look at this first Week 13 injury report with what you need to know.

– Josh Downs was a non-participant with a shoulder injury. Downs exited Sunday’s game due to his shoulder but did return the following possession. However, Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that he was “week to week” with the injury and “long shot” to play against New England. Shane Steichen wasn’t ready to rule Downs out yet, but did say him being available would be “tough.”

– Also non-participants at receiver were Ashton Dulin (ankle) and Alec Pierce (foot). Dulin exited Sunday’s game with the ankle injury and did not return. We do not have any further information at this time. With Pierce, James Boyd of The Athletic would report that he was getting his right ankle “looked at/re-taped” during Sunday’s game but a source told Boyd that Pierce was “good.”

– Tanor Bortolini entered concussion protocol on Monday and remains there. If he cannot go, with Ryan Kelly still on IR, Danny Pinter would get the start at center.

– Braden Smith was a non-participant for a personal matter, and Bernhard Raimann returned to the practice field for the first time since sustaining a knee injury in Week 10 against Buffalo. Having Raimann back at left tackle would provide this offensive line unit with some needed stability right now.

– Lastly, although Michael Pittman and Dalton Tucker are on the injury report, both were full participants–an early, but good sign for Sunday. When it comes to Tucker at right guard, Steichen was non-committal about him being the starter, saying, “we’ll see,” when asked if a change was coming.
