What to know from Colts’ first Week 18 injury report

Let’s take a look at what you need to know from the Indianapolis Colts’ first Week 18 injury report.

The Indianapolis Colts first injury report ahead of their Week 18 season finale against Jacksonville has been released. So what do you need to know?

– First and foremost, Wednesday’s practice was a walkthrough, so any injury status is just an estimation of each player’s participation had there been a traditional practice. The Colts will be back on the practice field on Thursday.

– The only non-participant was Anthony Richardson, who is still sidelined with a back injury. On Wednesday, Shane Steichen said he was “hopeful” that Richardson could start on Sunday but will see how he progresses throughout the week. We also learned from Richardson that it was severe back spasms that kept him sidelined last week.

– JuJu Brents was a full participant all three days last week but remained on injured reserve for the Week 17 game against New York. He was again listed as a full participant on Wednesday. Even if it’s only one game and likely with limited snaps given all the time that he’s missed, along with the emergence of Jaylon Jones and Samuel Womack, any live reps for Brents would be beneficial. Now almost two years into his NFL career, injuries have limited him to only 10 games during that span.

– Quenton Nelson is still listed with an ankle injury that he sustained against Tennessee. He was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday of last week before being questionable and ultimately playing against the Giants. This Wednesday he was listed as a full participant.

– Both Josh Downs (ankle) and Michael Pittman (back) were full participants, which is typically a good sign for Sundays. We will see if they maintain those statuses when actually practicing on Thursday. Pittman has been dealing with a lingering back injury for much of the season, while Downs was not on the injury report last week.
