What to know from Colts’ first Week 17 injury report

The Colts released their first Week 17 injury report, which was an estimation with the team not practicing. Here is what you need to know.

The Indianapolis Colts released their first injury report ahead of their Week 17 matchup against the New York Giants.

So, what do you need to know?

But first, we must note that the Colts held a walkthrough rather than a normal practice, so the injury designations are estimates of what each player’s practice status would have been.

– Anthony Richardson was listed as a non-participant with a back/foot injury. He did play all 62 of the offensive snaps on Sunday against Tennessee. We will see how the week progresses but Richardson initially popping up on the injury report could be a product of his more heavy usage in the run game.

– Mo Alie-Cox was a non-participant with a toe injury. He was on the injury report last week and did not practice the first two days but that was due to a hip injury–the toe injury is new.

– Also a non-participant was Jaylon Carlies with a shoulder. Carlies returned from IR this past game and played 60 of the 61 defensive snaps, starting for EJ Speed who was out. On last week’s injury report, it was fibula/shoulder injuries that Carlies was listed with.

– Speed was a non-participant as well. A knee injury kept him out of practice last week along with Sunday’s game against the Titans.

– Some good news, JuJu Brents was a full participant for the first time since begin designated to return from IR–a good sign early on in the week that he could make his return soon.

– In addition to that, Jaylon Jones who left Sunday’s game with a throat injury was a full participant, along with Quenton Nelson, who briefly exited the Tennessee game with an ankle injury before returning.

– Alec Pierce was a full participant for the first time since entering concussion protocol. As far as we know at this time, he is still in concussion protocol but being a full participant is a good sign that he is trending in the right direction. Lastly, Michael Pittman with his lingering back injury came out of the Tennessee game feeling back as he was a full participant.
