It’s almost time for the Show of Shows. WrestleMania 40 brings WWE’s biggest card of the year to Lincoln Financial Field on April 6-7 for two nights of action in front of what should be another gigantic crowd.
WrestleMania first went to two nights in 2020, and it’s proven to be a win for both WWE and wrestling fans. Though the first two-night show was during the COVID-19 pandemic in front of no audience, the company has had no problem selling tens of thousands of tickets on Saturday and Sunday for the last few years.
One other obvious benefit is that WWE can schedule more than a dozen matches without the show running a ridiculous length on either night. Even the most enthusiastic crowd starts to get worn out after three or four hours of matches.
That said, WrestleMania is still a longer than normal show on each night, and worthy of a special start time because of it. WrestleMania 40 will start at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on both April 6 and 7.
What isn’t 100% clear just yet is whether there will be any incentive to tune in earlier for a pre-show. WrestleMania 39 had no pre-show matches, and there’s been no indication that will change this year in Philadelphia. But if there are pre-show matches added, they could start as early as 6 p.m. ET.
Fortunately, with WrestleMania 40 streaming on Peacock in the U.S. and on WWE Network elsewhere in the world, it’s not hard to check in whenever necessary. We’re preparing for four-plus hours on both nights, but definitely thankful that it’s not all squashed into one very long night instead.
