The Chicago Bears are one of eight undefeated teams left in the NFL — although two of those will face off on Monday Night Football. While the Bears’ three wins have been anything from pretty, the fact of the matter is that they’re still 3-0 to start the 2020 season.
Yes, the Bears have won their three games by a combined total of 12 points. Yes, those wins have come against teams that have a 1-8 record after three weeks. But the Bears can only beat the teams that are in front of them, which is exactly what they’ve done over these first three weeks.
While it’s far too early to begin talking playoffs — playoffs! — it’s hard to ignore the importance of getting off to a 3-0 start. Since 1990, teams that have started 3-0 have made the playoffs 73.6 percent of the time.
Those odds should only increase this season with the extra wild card spot in each conference.
How big was #Bears comeback win in Atlanta? Since 1990, NFL teams that start 3-0 have made playoffs 73.6 percent of time (109/148); 2-1 teams have qualified 53.8 percent of time (169/314). Teams that open 4-0 have reached playoffs 82.4 percent of time (70/85).

The odds of making the postseason only get better for teams that start 4-0 — 82.4 percent — as the Bears have a chance to do against a dangerous Indianapolis Colts (2-1) team on Sunday.
But the Bears are coming off their second fourth-quarter comeback win and with a new quarterback in Nick Foles at the helm. We’ll see if they can extend their winning streak when they return to Soldier Field in Week 4.
