The Pittsburgh Steelers currently hold the No. 17 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. The team also holds the No. 32 overall pick which qualifies as another first-round pick although technically it won’t happen until the second day of the draft.
With two high picks, the Steelers have endless options as far as trades or they could simply hold tight and pick right where they are. But regardless of the strategy, we want to talk about what position Pittsburgh should target with that first-round pick.

The Steelers have a list of team needs but there’s plenty of disagreement about which position is more important. The logic behind which position gets drafted first goes deeper than just need and also aligns with the depth of those positions in this draft. Cornerback for example seems to be picking up speed as a top need but this cornerback class is very deep. On the other side, offensive tackle doesn’t run as deep so the Steelers might want to draft one sooner to be sure they get the prospect they want.
