Penn State’s secondary is widely being viewed as one of the strengths for the Nittany Lions this upcoming college football season, and one of those key players has just been named to Pro Football Focus’s preseason All-American Team.
Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker was named to PFF’s preseason All-American Second-Team on Monday. Brisker is the only Penn State player to appear on PFF’s preseason All-America team. Notre Dame’s Kyle Hamilton was named PFF’s First-Team preseason All-American at the safety position.
Brisker is one of the main anchors to Penn State’s defensive secondary, which is arguably the deepest unit on the Penn State roster entering the 2021 season. The return of Tariq Castro-Fields and the quick rise of Kalen King along with the continued development of players like Jonathan Sutherland and Joey Porter Jr. and more have given Penn State plenty of reasons to feel confident about defending the pass this season.
Penn State will face a number of players appearing on PFF’s preseason All-American list. The season will open on the road against Wisconsin and honorable mention linebacker Jack Sanborn. Auburn running back Tank Bigsby, a first-team preseason All-American, will come to Beaver Stadium in Week 3. Ohio State has two first-team wide receivers in Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson (Penn State’s Jahan Dotson did not even receive an honorable mention despite 12 spots available for first, second, and third teams plus honorable mentions). And Iowa’s offensive line has a first-team center (Tyler Linderbaum) and second-team guard (Kyler Schott).
