The new uniform numbers are in, and Micah Parsons will be suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys in a familiar number for his new team in 2021. Parsons will wear No. 11 for the Cowboys, the NFL franchise officially announced today.
Parsons, of course, wore the No. 11 during his time at Penn State. He will be one of the many rookies around the NFL getting a chance to wear the same uniform number in the NFL that he did while in college (Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devonte Smith, for example, will wear the same No. 6 for the Eagles that he wore at Alabama during his Heisman Trophy season.
Parsons shared his reaction to the news with great enthusiasm.
Ooooo that look pretty! https://t.co/c5rQ7JM2ZC

The NFL is relaxing the uniform code beginning this season with regard to uniform numbers. Previously, only certain numbers were allowed to be worn based on position. But this year, the jersey number restrictions have been lifted, allowing for players to wear numbers they may have never been able to before. Parsons wearing No. 11 is an example of that.
College football never had the same uniform number restrictions in place due to significantly larger roster sizes compared to NFL franchises.
The Dallas Cowboys drafted Parsons with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, after trading down two picks with the Eagles.
