What Nate Oats said after Alabama’s impressive win over Oklahoma

Here’s what Nate Oats had to say after Alabama’s 107-79 win over the Oklahoma Sooners to start SEC play.

The Alabama Crimson Tide got off to a strong start in SEC play Saturday night at Coleman Coliseum, thoroughly blowing out the Oklahoma Sooners in a 107-79 rout.

Alabama (12-2 overall, 1-0 SEC) had six players finish in double figures. Mark Sears led the Crimson Tide with 22 points and freshman Labaron Philon added 16. Grant Nelson finished with 12 points, freshman Derrion Reid had 11, and Aden Holloway added 10.

Alabama led 48-29 at halftime, and the 28-point lead at the final buzzer tied their largest of the game. The Tide scored 100 points in a game for the fourth time this season — and the second in a row.

“Really good first us to start our first game,” Oats told reporters afterwards. “I think the two years we’ve won the SEC regular season, I think we won by 22 at home and 18 on the road. I talked to our guys like, ‘We need a dominating win coming out, setting the tone if we’re trying to win this thing,’ and I think the guys answered the bell pretty well.”
