What must LSU do defensively to beat Arkansas?

The LSU defense has struggled in 2020, but facing Arkansas on Saturday for the first game in three weeks could be a start to improvement.

Stop the run

The Razorbacks only average 148.1 rushing yards per game. But leading rusher Trelon Smith has 78 carries for 441 yards this season.

As bleak as the Tigers have looked trying to stop the run, this is an Arkansas team that doesn’t run the ball consistently well. LSU can take advantage of that and win that battle by getting tackles in open space.

If the defense can stop the run, then Arkansas will be forced to put the game in Franks’  hands. That leaves it up to LSU’s passing defense to win the game, which they have failed to be consistent at stopping this season.
