What Kendall Hinton did on Sunday for the Broncos was pretty incredible

The Broncos should reward Kendall Hinton with a shot at WR.

Kendall Hinton went to practice on Saturday with the Denver Broncos as a practice-squad wide receiver with no other real football plans for the weekend.

Hours later, the undrafted rookie out of Wake Forest was told he would be playing QB for the Broncos on Sunday.

Now that’s a pretty wild “life-comes-at-you-fast” turn of events for a guy who hadn’t thrown a pass in a real football game since 2018 and spent 2019 as a wide receiver who had over 1,000 yards receiving in his senior year of college.

Did Hinton have a lot of success against the Saints on Sunday? If you look at the stats – 1-for-9 passing for 13 yards and two interceptions – you’d say no.

But come on, what this guy did goes far beyond stats. One day he’s a nobody practice-squad guy getting in work as a wide receiver. The next he’s taking snaps as a QB in a real NFL game against a real NFL defense.

The fact that he even completed a pass and helped lead the Broncos to a field goal is absolutely incredible.

Hinton got the opportunity after all three Denver QBs were prohibited from played because of COVID-19 contact tracing protocols. The team reportedly tried to get two assistant coaches on the roster so they could play QB. When the league didn’t allow that they turned to Hinton, who played a little QB early in his college career before becoming a full-time receiver.

What makes this even more awesome is that Hinton was working a sales job just a month ago before the Broncos brought him on to their practice squad earlier this month.

A sales job!

The Broncos should now do the right thing for Hinton and let him get some time at wide receiver when the QBs return and give him a chance to show them what he can do in his “real” position.

It’s the least they can do for a guy who bailed them out big time on Sunday and had the guts to put himself in a situation that was going to be far from easy.

Do the right thing, Broncos. Hinton deserves it.
