Defensive line
The defensive line unit could be filled by many candidates, including Bo Davis.
Davis is in his third season as defensive line coach for the Detroit Lions. He previously coached alongside Pruitt at Alabama.
Lomas Brown, who is the color analyst for the Lions and a College Football Hall of Fame offensive lineman at Florida, discussed Davis and the possibility he could join Tennessee’s staff in the future.
“Bo might be happier on the college level, so I could see that,” Brown told Vols Wire. “I could see him possibly taking that opportunity.”
Tosh Lupoi is another defensive coach with a history alongside Pruitt at Alabama, however if Muschamp is on staff, it would be harder to land the current Atlanta Falcons’ defensive line coach. It would take an offer that Lupoi could not refuse.
“I don’t see Tosh coming back to college unless he is a defensive coordinator at a SEC or a top-tier school, or a head coach at a reputable program,” Allan Bridgford who was recruited and played for Lupoi at California told Vols Wire. “He is not going to leave the NFL unless it is an offer he cannot refuse.”
Vols Wire recently sat down with former Tennessee player and assistant John Chavis to discuss his coaching future. Chavis wants his next coaching stop to be one for a chance in winning a championship throughout college football or the National Football League.
“I know there’s going to be some opportunities,” Chavis told Vols Wire. “I don’t necessarily have to be a coordinator, when I go back into coaching. I want to be where I have a chance to win.”
Chavis is not the only coach with UT ties that Pruitt could look at in filling the defensive line position.
