What is next for the Steelers at inside linebacker?

Are the Steelers done adding talent at inside linebacker?

The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off quite a draft haul this year but as we pointed out, the work isn’t done. We broke down four areas of need that are still out there for the Steelers but the question that came up was all about inside linebacker.\

The Steelers gutted out the inside linebacker depth chart in the offseason and signed two players to replace them. But was it enough?

We think it was but we understand why others might disagree. Pittsburgh goes into the offseason with three inside linebackers. Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts were signed to be the starter and Mark Robinson returns in his second season.

A case can be made this is more than enough inside linebackers. Firsts reason being the Steelers only utilize a single inside linebacker in their sub packages. And they run sub-package defense a lot. Whether it is a third safety or cornerback, they replace an inside linebacker in almost every case.

Another thing to consider is the newly acquired linebacker Nick Herbig. I am not at all convinced Herbig ends up an edge with the Steelers. He’s undersized and could really flourish if they kicked him inside.
